The Women of The Seneca Knitting Mill.
The Seneca Knitting Mill in Seneca Falls, NY produced knitted wool socks from its opening in 1844 until its closing in 1999. During that time it supported the lives and families of hundreds of Seneca Falls residents. I gathered oral histories from women who worked in the mill, learning firsthand about their lives and their work. In this exhibition, we have created interactive visual projects that explore aspects of working at the mill. My project "The Genealogy of Work" was a participatory piece that visually mapped the different community connections made at the Seneca Knitting Mill.
The research on this project was conducted in the way of Oral Histories. The Oral Histories were submitted to the national women’s hall of fame.
This project consisted of research, conducting of interviews, editing and sound mixing.
